Phil installed my hood vent cabinet he built. and I finished painting it....it still needs the doors and the mouldings installed.

But I couldn't wait I had to fill it.

Love these egg cups.

and the gentlemen interested in the lodge

sent a message that he's very interested still.

along with 20 questions.

So this is encouraging news.

I had to show my sweeties hair,

Sylvia had fun with her.

Oh my hair turned out cute I love it

and I did try and take a picture for you guys

I had to share my little blue pot... makes me happy.

I'm painting my new cabinet over the stove

today. I can't wait to show you it finished.

I found a crocheted full spread that one of me Grandma's sisters

made years ago, Freda. It's beautiful my mom is going to

fix a couple of tears in it and I'm going to put it on my bed.

Freda out of all my Grandma's sisters was a tough cookie

many stories of this one!

Mimi has placed an order with Grandpa for this little house,

when the lodge sells and they build next door she wants this built in there

backyard. We should hear something this week about the lodge.

look I have lake property...

the swamp behind the house with snow melt,

it does look pretty!

Here's where I need help my guru never got a chance

to look, I did have a glass of wine and forgot to ask.

It's doing this on what ever I want to look at on the computer.

Mushroom- toadstool, tomato- tomato

I finally found this little Easter decoration

I picked up on a trip a few years ago

the chick and egg it's Danish.

This big mushroom did not fit in the window sill

with the others so I decided to create a little Easter table

Scandinavian style...

then I thought I would

get out my egg cups. the blue one is from Norway I have a rust one to match but the red ones I'm not sure they are wood and I always thought they looked Swedish. I think I have enough toadstools now.

they do make me happy to see them as I come and go

through the front door!

I also found some ceramic mushrooms I don't know where

they come from but they are cute.

The Dala horse ,I would love to have some of my Mom's

she has a wonderful collection of them.

but this little guy is extra special

because he was my Grandma's

She brought him back as a souvenir

from their trip over in the 60's.

well as you can see I had fun playing house again

with my doll furniture....

I hope you all had just as wonderful a day and by late

afternoon the snow was gone and Spring was back

and I'm Back to painting!

Glad to be home again...

I have decided to paint the bottom cupboards inspired by this

this light green cup shade....so pretty!

I hope I didn't disappoint all of you who wanted white but

my kids are little piggies.

I would be spending half the day cleaning and

complaining..... and I think it will be so lovely

against the blue and white.

George got a haircut

boy was he glad to have Momma back!

Now to the lodge news

he stayed for 3 hours today

and as he was leaving he took 2 more cookies

out the door with him and shoved them in his coat pocket

too funny!

He was very nice and he asked a ton of questions

if he buys it he wants to run it this summer.

which is great news for me but he wants

the guides to stay on for this season.

so Phil would have to work with my brother.

and he asked if the decorations went with so that's

nice that he liked how it looked furnished.

He has 4 dogs so instead of three kids and a cat

a more quiet exchange.

He video taped every square inch for his wife

including me out slipping on the ice behind the lodge

you know how I feel about that.....

any way he said he was flying home to talk

and share with his wife and he

would get right back to him!

our real estate agent later said he's very interested

we will keep praying....

I went home after church last night

with my parents and had a sleepover.

at 42 I still enjoy a good sleepover!

so this morning we started

cleaning getting the lodge ready.I don't want to get my hopes up

but...

I just can't help myself.

I'll take pictures of the inside of the lodge tomorrow tell me what you think....but as for now I'm relaxing and strolling through you guessed it Anthropologie.... How amazing are these nooks.

What a week so far...

My week has been so crazy. I'm almost done in the kitchen and I have brought out my Potmerian dishes for Spring. In my crazy week I thought I'd share something funny Sunday sitting in Bible study between my two boys Cory looks at me and whispers to me, Mom I think you and Jeremy's mustaches are growing in nicely. Then Jeremy rubs his upper lip and said you need to wax Mom. these two teased me till the end. I was sitting in a flood of natural light the worst. I was so self conscious I could hardly talk to anyone thinking I had a caterpillar across my face.... kids are a humbling bunch to hang out with! Soon my finished pictures, sorry it's taking me so long Monday I went down and helped clean the lodge and Tonight I'm going home with my parents so I can help clean some more on Thursday because Saturday they show it..... Pins AND needles! I'm so sorry I have been to busy to comment on all my favorite blogs, I'll catch up with you all soon!

Looks so much better already I painted the shelves

white along with the paneling

before they were a kind of cream color.

and now this is where I need help,

what color should I paint the bottoms

I'm sticking with my blue walls because I just

painted them last year.......

Phil was out in the shop till after 10pm last night so being tired I had finished painting and crawled into bed... see this wall without a hood vent.... He was out building this for me so today he will install it and I can paint it.... I'm so excited. the new Romantic homes had this featured in it its from a historic home in Sweden! I'm going to keep all my spices in it! last year I got a bee in my bonnet and ripped the top shelf down so that dark strip had bugged me and I meaning Phil cut the shelf back from the sink down to... here's what I moved into the wall in the kitchen the cabinet out of the bathroom, it fit perfectly. someday I will get cabinets on this wall but as busy as we are I know its going to be awhile so this will tied me over until then. some much needed storage! this is how I had the wall before, I'll show better pictures after I'm done! here's the before cabinet in the bathroom...

I had wanted this one in the kitchen but it would not fit

on my wall but it looks great in here

Calling for a few Prayers....

Some of you who are new to my blog don't know that every

summer for the last....well almost 20 years.

My husband and I along with my brother

work at my parents fishing lodge.

We have two locations one on the main side and one

across the inlet in a remote area.

But as some of you know that we have been trying to sell

the main lodge for 2 years now so my parents can retire.

Some locals heard the news and

stopped by to leave their well wishes.

We have someone flying up on April 1st

to look at the lodge.

The only problem is this winter the natural springs

have been so terrible for ice.

My parents have to go over this on this steep hill

and the drop off is 30ft. if they go over.

yesterday they said it's even worse.

Just driving on the beach is bad enough

but they have that steep treacherous hill to get up after.

So pray for WARM weather so we can even get the potential buyer

in to see it....

They have quite a view everyday...in the mornings
and evenings.

The rough days are the ones I love to watch....

This is who they want to retire with...

Do a little of this....this is my brother.

enjoy this with a glass of wine every night.

Thank goodness we will still be able to Halibut fish

this is something I take for granted

fresh fish!

So the thought of not having to cook for the first time,

not having to hear that 3am alarm all summer.

my parents can finally enjoy themselves without all

the pressure of running two places and they can

finally go on their trip to Denmark and Norway after

50 years....

Please Pray they just fall in love with it.....

The Beautiful Tiffin

I have been in love with the tiffin vase for years

not knowing at first the name or company...
and when I would go on the road buying for the
shop I would always find one but of course
there would be a price but nothing else...

until one day there was a little label that said
tiffin glass company.

Mystery solved.

I love that

they come in all different colors.
(note to self ,clean the windows,yikes)

I also loved these glasses they are a pretty

green to a beautiful pink.

I also learned that they are tiffin.

this was my very first it looks black but in the light

It's a very deep purple.

Signs of Spring in a tree

It was 40 degrees at our home today

We tried to decorate a tree for Easter .

the back of the house... we still have a lot snow

but it's Melting.....

My Mom just called me to say

Do you have nothing better to do than

hang things in a tree?

Maybe I am losing it

oh well..lol!

A Grand Home...then and now

My Dad built this for Mimi it's a replica of the home

he was born in.
His Grandfather came over from Denmark
and built it in the mid 1800's for $3,200

we went back to Iowa when Mimi was a baby and my

Dad and I went through the home that My Grandma

was born in and then she raised her four children in.

they lost it in the Depression

but My Grandma and Grandpa rented it.

We called the owner of it at the time and explained

that we would love to walk through and asked if we saw something

like a board or a door knob if he minded

if we took a keepsake.

He said yes.

So I took some bead board from the kitchen walls.

which my dad

incorporated into this doll house for Mimi.

The house was in very bad shape the stairs had caved

in and the raccoons and Cattle had been through it

But the doors and trim were still beautiful.

three years later we went back and I couldn't wait to show

Phil and the kids this beautiful home or skeleton

of one.

and it had been burned to the ground.

I was heartbroken.

at least we have treasures like this to pass on.

Here's the house with my Dad and Mimi in the car seat

next to him. The last time we saw it standing.

My Mom and I always tease him the

dollhouse is missing the bay window.

Of course the Dolls are all Danish

from the Danish Immigrant Museum

in Elk horn Iowa.

If your Danish and your ever back there

it is amazing the genealogy department!!!

we were able to find out that my Great Grandma

came all the way from Denmark by herself

to meet up with my Grandpa and marry him over here.

she carried with her a purse that she had made

for the trip and it was donated to the museum.

I hope someday to see it!

Spring Break in full swing...

a while and this cute laundry bag fit perfectly

My Sister came down from Anchorage

Were heading down God willing for

half a day and we will be done. Phew

We had to put all of their furniture back into place
yesterday and I had been so fascinated with his postcards
of Alaska. I had to share a few!

we sanded the floors, this walkway

was a challenge.

We put four coats of gymnasium floor finish on

and this little guy must have landed

and just gotten sucked in.....

she loves enamelware as much as I do...

featured some amazing pottery that has been handed

down and I was hoping maybe someone

has heard of this German pottery?

it's stamped on the bottom

or this company on who made these German
polka dots it's imprinted Germany on the bottom.
I wonder if there is more to the set?

this has been a crazy month for Phil and I we finished up

2 existing jobs and took on a new kitchen and refinishing

there hardwood floors to a gymnasium finish and we have to

be done by March 1st.

We have been working 7 days a week to get it all done

and I'm so looking forward to next week and taking a breather

this Friday is the carnival at school our biggest fundraiser

another crazy train I can't wait to get off of is the PTO.

So I'm going to sign off of blogland till next Monday and

I'll catch up with all of you then, say a prayer we finish....

Oh and one more thing a big thanks to

Shereen, Elizabeth and Chastity

for helping me clean their house after re sanding

their floors, oh my when we took down the plastic

I had not expected to see so much dust, so thanks again!

Diane look how pretty it looks...

I had been wanting an i phone for awhile

our son has had one for a couple of years now

and they really are amazing.

so when my phone disappeared right before Christmas

and I received an email on the purchase of our new

at&t phone.....I was so excited.

My husband is a dream boat but

when it comes to gift buying

and bringing me flowers....well

he has a knack for bringing the only rotten

bunch of flowers home...

So when I unwrapped my one box under the tree

We just got fresh snow

and as far as my snow activities

We sled and build snowmen

when the snow is just right

BUT

at 8 below zero a few weeks ago

for charity.

Poor George gave us quite a scare this week

he just started acting all goofy and we could not figure

out what was wrong

finally we stuck a flashlight in his

mouth and we found a stick stuck in his throat.

I didn't even know he had been chewing on it

he must have picked it up when he was outside.

Since I closed the shop I have been so busy with Phil
and the PTO at school

That when I found out I was going to have the whole

day to myself....

After 2 hours I had to change the channel.

What to wear, what to wear, I finally decided on this dress

to wear while I except my award from

I have loved her blog and her incredible work

for quite awhile now and it was so sweet

of her to think of silly little me!

I'm suppose to share 7 things about myself

so here goes

1. when I was in 5th grade we moved

from Seattle to Minnesota and lived on a

dairy farm and in 7th grade I told my teacher

proudly that I would not be needing an education

just to haul manure the rest of my life.

Thank God I'm still not hauling manure.....

2. I always told my friends that I wanted to meet Mr. right

and pop out kids like a pack of Rolo's.

Dear God it took 5 years in between each of our 3 kids

so I would be in my 70's if I had finished like

a pack of Rolo's as planned.

3.in High school I had my appendix removed

and you know where that scar is don't you

well on the farm the neighbor man came over with a box of chocolate

for me and I pulled my pants down to show him my scar

not all the way, you should have seen his face

good Lord, what was I thinking.

4.on my first date the boy opened the door for me

and I opened the other door and walked through.

5.When my Mom told my sister and I that we were going

to have a brother or sister. My sister was 11 and I was 10

I asked if Dad knew. Look at what kids know today at that age,

I was a bit of a late bloomer though.

6.In high school I use to arm wrestle the city boys and beat them

until a girlfriend told me no boy wants to date a girl who's stronger

than they are so I stopped.

7. when I was a senior in high school we moved back to Seattle

where I met Mrs. Smodiez and she wore Poison perfume

and always wore a dress or skirt.

I wanted to be just like her and she changed me into a girlie girl

in a very big way.

I hope that I did not bore you too death....

Who can resist My happy face?

This is what I have been telling my parents

Because I could not get them off the beach.

I had been giving them a hard time.

so they brought me pictures of what the beach looks

like right now,

I have not been down there for a month or so.

they have to go by 4-wheeler for about a 1/4 mile

over all this ice on the beach to get up to the main road.

See the waters edge total ice right to the tide line.

all this ice is caused by natural springs that run off the bluff.

Should I cut them some slack!

After I commented on Amanda's post

that I had not had a moose in my yard

for along time.

I have had one to two visitors every day since...

I kept talking to him till he finally turned to look at me.

of course from my dining room window.

The last 2 days I have had a Momma and her young one.

My Dad was commenting on how such a large animal can survive

all winter as cold as it is on a diet of wood.

That's all they eat, all winter.

I may have gotten myself in a little pickle of a situation....

Anyone who knows me knows I'm always trying to set

people up and make a love connection.

Well in the last month we joined this wonderful church

again, (long story) but the new minister is such a great fit!!

Any who I hadn't realized I had told so many women

about this sweet man who goes there,

I'm not sure if he's available he should

be he comes alone every Sunday...and Phil and I

would visit him at basketball games where he would bring

his grandchildren.

Well

I had 4 women call me yesterday all wanting to

come with me to church to meet him.

Tuesday through a winter window

Sunday morning the sunrise was so pretty
I thought this will make the perfect winter through a Tuesday
morning as I sit in darkness still.

I got kicked out of my bed this morning at 4:30
Mimi crawled in kissed me on the nose and fell
back asleep, well with a wake up like that
you may as well get up and enjoy the peace of a sleeping house!

It was hard to capture it but it was so pink the sky!

We got some fresh snow this morning and at 9:30 it's not quite light yet.
This morning I snapped a few pictures and looking at them
it looks like I'm pretty packed.

All my display cabinets are sold, almost!

I have only 3 days left.....

I have been very happy with my decision to close

and I'm excited about my next adventure!

But I know,

at 6pm Wednesday evening I will probably

cry a little.

I have been so busy in the store and my last day is

approaching quickly the 22ND of December.
The kids last day of school was yesterday.

It's amazing how use to the quiet during the day I am and

now there's alot of chatter!

I never put any presents under the tree till Christmas Eve

because it really does slow down some of the begging to

open presents early.

as a kid I would secretly open every gift and re tape the corners,

I just had to know!

I wonder if my kids would do this if they had the chance?

I still have a little left to buy for the kids.

and then I'm done, I still have to find something for Phil

any ideas?

I baked a ton of cookies on Wednesday for Mimi and Cory's

class parties yesterday!

Well it's all down hill now till Christmas,

I just hope it warms up we have been in such a

cold snap that it's hard to get the kids outside

and when you do finally get them out there back in

because there freezing.

We had 2 below zero this morning

We started working on the house again after taking

a long break....

I'm going to take this hood vent

design and tweak it...

and where I took out my pantry cupboards

back from her trip

with her cute daughter!

Well I painted Cory's room this week

and Jeremy's room is next

This is the gray color I chose it looks so nice

with the white trim.

I will have to share later

the poor tree is now in its stand

and decorated.

I have 14 days

left of the store being open

and I have been having so much

fun with all my favorites.

I'm going to miss them!!!

till I reopen.

Sorry this was such a long

My Mom and Dad lent me their

laptop till I get mine up and running

hence the long post.

Maybe if it was down more often

I would get so much more

done!

I have to take my computer in to the Doctor today This

What a Day I had....

My day started at 4:30 with the worst headache

and my Mom and I had hair appointments with

Sylvia which is always a highlight.

I had driven down to the lodge and picked up my parents

and was racing to make our 10am appointment.

when I got there I was feeling sicker than ever

and look what she gave me.....

Julie my very own pair of RED clogs

they are like walking on clouds!

I earlier had posted about these shoes in the spring.

then I had to go to the school last night

for the PTO

cash raffle drawing for $2,500

well I still had a ticket left in the pot

and they were down to 12 lucky tickets

and I won $50 and 6 cupcakes from Cold Stone!

and after I at 9:30 white knuckled it driving

home last night in freezing rain.

I had Corine follow me I was a little scared

a friend had dropped off for me

this little vintage ceramic tree.

Sooo Sweet!

What a Wonderful day and I had fab hair

on top of it all.....why can I never get my hair to look like

they do after all these years they are just

magicians in the hair department.

Every year since Mimi was born I have bought her

an ornament from Anthropologie.

but this year I had to add these sweet

crocheted ornaments from

Target

the frog, owl and fox.

I have had so much fun with

her little pink tree.

although I have to share

my Little Angel

had to sit out of an

activity in Gym

the other day because

she refused to pick a partner

because who she wanted to be paired

up with already had a partner.

We had a little talk....

I love this purchase

at Pier 1

this sweet owl mug

just makes my tea taste

a little better!

We all know I had plenty of time to shop

while stranded....

and scrabble!

and of course every year

I have to get the new Starbucks

Christmas C.D.

I love them all!

and last but not least

here is my beloved hard tack

Its not the holidays without

this and a little butter on top!

It has cardamon in it

so good!
